An intraocular lens (IOL) is an artificial replacement lens implanted when a patient's natural lens has been surgically removed during cataract surgery. At the Eye Clinic of Meridian we offer several options to determine the best fit for your lifestyle.
Monofocal Intraocular Lens
A monofocal lens is an intraocular lens that has a fixed focus at distance to provide enhanced distance vision. This lens does not correct astigmatism, intermediate, or near vision so glasses are often required after surgery.
Toric Intraocular Lens
A toric intraocular lens is designed to correct astigmatism for enhanced distance vision. There is no correction of near vision, so glasses are typically required for near activities such as reading.
PanOptix Intraocular Lens
The PanOptix intraocular lens is a trifocal lens that uses Enlighten Optical Technology to provide enhanced vision along multiple distances. This means that glasses are typically not needed for most distance, intermediate, and near activities.
